The John's MUN 2024 Terms & Conditions
We cordially invite delegates from all across the country and beyond to grace the John’s Model United Nations 2024. However, for any delegate participating in the conference, the below-stated terms and conditions will be unconditionally applicable.
General Terms & Conditions
A.1. Rights of admission to the conference are reserved. Delegate registrations are non-transferable under all circumstances.
A.2. The delegate fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
A.3. The delegates must strictly adhere to the policies, norms and itinerary of the conference without any exceptions. The policies, norms and itinerary will be communicated beforehand.
A.4. The school authorities and the secretariat hold the discretion not to allow a delegate dressed inappropriately into the premises.
A.5. In case of violation of any policy established by the secretariat, the following repercussions may apply
A.6. Candidates must adhere to the timings as mentioned in the conference itinerary made public in advance to avoid any unpleasant situation.
- Exclusion from candidature for awards
- Verbal warning by the secretariat
- Expulsion from the conference without refund
- Any other action deemed necessary and appropriate by the Secretariat
Eligibility Criteria
The conference is open to students from grades 9th to 12th. Students who passed 12th grade in 2024 are not eligible to attend the conference.
Media Policy
Throughout the conference, The John’s MUN staff and representatives of the conference may take photographs and recordings of committee sessions and interviews of delegates that show conference participants both during and in between committee sessions. They may be used for promotional, educational, or other purposes by the organizers of The John’s MUN. By attending the conference, participants consent to be photographed, recorded, and/or interviewed and authorize The John’s MUN to use the photographs, recordings, and/or interviews in any manner the Secretariat chooses to.
Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism will not be tolerated at the conference. Any delegate found violating this policy while submitting any written work or delivering any verbal address will not be eligible to receive awards. Plagiarism also includes the following:
- Submitting someone else’s work (e.g. that of a fellow delegate, a published author, or a faculty advisor) entirely as your own.
- Claiming the words of another author as your own (i.e. not citing sources when identical words and phrases have been used in your work).
- Claiming the ideas of someone else as your own. Sources used to form your thoughts must be cited
Privacy Policy
The John’s MUN and Silver Fern Education Consultants are committed to keeping the personal details of the participating delegates protected from unauthorized disclosure at all times. However, by registering for this conference, you allow Silver Fern Education Consultants to reach out to you for its future events, marketing and branding purposes. In doing so, Silver Fern Education Consultants cannot be held in violation of the privacy policy.
Drug Policy
There will be a zero-tolerance policy towards any sort of substance abuse. This includes any sort of drug abuse, use of alcohol, use of tobacco, or even prescribed medicinal drugs for purposes other than those for which they are meant to be used. Strictest possible action will be taken against the violators.
Faculty Advisor Mandate
All school delegations must be accompanied by at least one faculty member each. The details of the faculty advisor including contact information and email address will be sought as a part of the registration process. The faculty member shall be the point of contact between the delegation and the secretariat. Faculty advisors are also expected to engage during the conference and be observant of their students’ conduct.
Accommodation
Neither the school nor Silver Fern Education Consultants will be responsible for providing accommodation to outstation delegates. The organizers of the conference cannot be held responsible for any misfortunate instance outside the school premises. However, we will be happy to provide recommendations for accommodation options in and around the city. Pick up and drop off from the school and the accommodation facility can be arranged.
Awards
Awards will be given on the discretion and fine sense of adjudication of the executive board members. The decisions of the respective executive board members of each committee will be final and binding. Delegates are more than welcome to approach the executive board members for feedback but the decision on awards will be beyond the scope of being challenged.
Responsibility of Personal Belongings
The school and Silver Fern Education Consultants will not be responsible for any loss of personal belongings or cash incurred by a participating student. We will extend full cooperation in finding the lost belongings or cash but we will not be responsible for compensating the same. Any misuse or misinterpretation of the event will be considered a serious offense.
Code of Conduct
- Delegates are expected to behave with discipline, diligence and dignity at all times. If a delegate’s conduct is found contrary to the same, the secretariat will be free to take appropriate disciplinary action.
- Delegates will be liable to pay for any damage or loss they incur on the property of the host school i.e. St. John’s High School, Chandigarh.
- A delegate can be expelled from the conference without any further justification if found in possession of intoxicating substances or any other unsolicited items.
- Not being considerate of the conference itinerary will attract consequences.
- There will be zero tolerance for any acts of sexual harassment or abuse at the conference. Any delegate found guilty of the same will be expelled with immediate effect.
- No act of bullying, discrimination or aggression towards fellow delegates, executive board, teachers or any other staff member will be tolerated. Appropriate action will be taken.
- All delegates must follow the established dress code for the conference as no exceptions will be made on the days of the conference.
- Misuse of social media to defame the conference will be considered as a serious offense.
- Any candidate found using a false identity to gain access to the conference will be expelled with immediate effect without any liability of refund.
